Renato and his partner Elisa have dedicated themselves to producing wines of exceptional quality in the Roero region, crafting small-batch, artisanal expressions of their land. Their winery, Bricco Ernesto, has gained a reputation that far exceeds the appellation’s usual standing, setting itself apart as a benchmark for quality in Roero. Despite their growing acclaim, they remain deeply committed to a hands-on, meticulous approach, producing fewer than 4,000 bottles annually. Their limited production focuses on two distinct wines: a Bianco based on Arneis and a Rosso crafted from Nebbiolo. These wines showcase the unique terroir of their estate, expressing the region’s depth and elegance through careful vineyard management and minimal intervention winemaking.

Farming just three hectares of vineyards, Renato and Elisa cultivate a carefully curated selection of grape varieties, including Arneis, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Sangiovese, and Bonarda. Their dedication to sustainable viticulture is evident in their long-standing commitment to organic farming, a practice they have maintained since 1990. Over the years, they have gone even further by embracing biodynamic farming methods, ensuring that their vineyards not only reflect the natural environment but also thrive in a way that enhances biodiversity and soil health.
